Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 12 PM – 4 PM at the Hazlet Fire Company 570 Holmdel Rd, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730
This event is open to all members and those who we hope will become members.
We are trying a new venue that we hope will be central to a majority of our members. It’s approximately 5 minutes from Exit 117 in Hazlet, NJ. It is a nice open room with well equipped kitchen where dishes may be reheated. There is also a ice maker for cold drinks.
This year we are happy to feature presentations from two of our members.
Past Madam President herself, Kerry Kirk Pflugh, will be exhilarating us with a first-hand account of her adventure to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Recently featured in Atlantic Coastal Kayaker, this talk and slide show will no doubt leave us breathless with envy. Kerry promises plenty of maps for us map geeks to pore over also.
Marshall Seddon of The River Connection will be speaking about Operation Deep Blue. This annual long-distance sea kayak expedition celebrates and brings awareness of law enforcement officers, other first responders, and military service members who died in the line of duty as well as raise funds for related charities and surviving family members. He will recap the 2019 expedition and promote the planned 2020 trip.
Marshall has indicated that he will also bring along some new gear and gadgets for us to ooh and ahh over, and there will be time and space for a gear swap. Feel free to bring small items that you would like to maybe sell-off.
Please, this is an indoor event so all used items must be clean and dry in order for them to be allowed in the room.
The business portion will include the Treasurers report and some recaps and future plans from our VP and Trip Organizer extraordinaire Melinda Edward.
Any votes or decisions will be limited to current members of the club. Of course anyone who wishes to join in person at that time will be more than welcome. Payment in check will be accepted at that time.
Please RSVP in the event on our Facebook page and let us know what tasty dish you will be bringing. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Here’s hoping you and yours have a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to seeing all of you in January.
