Instruction

JSSKA is a club, not a school.

And yet, there a number of JSSKA members who are ACA- or BCU-certified instructors who voluntarily mentor club members. Highly skilled or experienced members also volunteer their time as mentors. There are also members who used to be certified instructors who share their knowledge as needed during paddles.

Additionally, JSSKA has a pilot program to subsidize some of the tuition of its members to become certified ACA Instructors, Instructor Trainers, or Trip Leaders. In return for the subsidy, they are to use their certifications to formally teach skills to/lead trips of other JSSKA members for free, thereby increasing the educational opportunities for and skill level of JSSKA members. See here for details.

All educational opportunities are posted on our Facebook page as Events. Please note that events listed there that are “Shared by” are not JSSKA events.
