Description from Hudson River Watertrail Guide: "A prominent landing on the NJ Shore lies below the Palisades cliffs, with a small beach at the north end. A boat basin and public picnic area, with water, toilets and telephone, operated by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. Refreshments in season. Of historical interest is the Blackridge-Kearney House built 1750. Local legend is that the house served as HQ of British Gen. Cornwallis after he snuck across the river with troops in Nov. 1776 to attack the Continental Army at Fort Lee. Recent research suggest the military operation actually took place 1.5 miles further south. HQ or not, the house is notable as a most unusual monumentis is an historic shrine to an enemy general."
